Connecting individuals to low-income housing resources in our area.

Independent Living Housing

Carey Counseling Center, Inc. assists in linking individuals to low-income housing resources for Benton, Carroll, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion, and Weakley counties.

In order to qualify, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Homeless

  • Low income

  • Mentally ill

Independent Living Housing applications have been closed at this time. Please visit our website periodically to see when it will reopen. (12/1/2023)

About The Project

Projects are funded under an agreement with Tennessee Housing Development Agency through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Rural Housing and Economic Development and Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati.

PATH Application

Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG)

ESG provides shelter and services to help persons experiencing homelessness regain housing stability. Services to be provided can include the following:

  • Emergency Shelter: Provision of essential services to homeless families and individuals in emergency shelters and the operation of emergency shelters. (Shelter & Hotel Vouchers)

  • Rapid Re-Housing: Provision of assistance to a homeless individual or family to move into permanent housing.(Rent, Security Deposits, & Utility Assistance)

Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH)

SAMHSA’s Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) funds services for individuals 18+ yrs old, with serious mental illness (SMI) who are literally or at risk of homelessness.

PATH-eligible clients can seek the following services:

  • Outreach service

  • Screening and diagnostic treatment service

  • Habilitation and rehabilitation services

  • Community mental health services

  • Alcohol and drug treatment services

  • Case Management Services

  • Supportive and Supervisory Services in Residential Settings

  • Relevant Housing Resources

  • Referrals for primary health services, job training, educational services
